AFNI Collection

So I have been battling AFI Bloom Collections for almost a year now. My first letter was received CMRRR 01-23-07, second letter 05-04-07, third letter 09-24-07 and forth letter 11-02-07. They have sent back copies of bills from Verizon and asked for more info from me to verify.

They asked for my DL#, DOB and SS# of which I have sent none nore my signature on any document to them.

So today I was frustrated and trolled the boards all day looking for things to say to either AFNI or the CRA’s. Everyone on this forum said call the CRA or send letters and disputes which I did. Other posts people asked questions and it has been months since they replied with their findings on AFNI.

One thing majority of the posts said was not to call AFNI. Today I called AFNI, argues with a rep and then a more polite senior came on the phone, their resolution “WE WILL GLADLY TAKE A CREDIT CARD OR BANK INFO TO PROCESS A PAYMENT”. I called Experian CRA and they informed me they can not do anything and I should contact the agency AFNI or the Original Creditor Verizon. I called Verizon and after about 15 reps and transferring me one rep finally called AFNI with me on the phone and gave them the number they are trying to collect on which I receive on the bill copy they sent from AFNI and mentioned they have no record of my name or a delinquent account. After about 10 minutes of holding the Verizon rep came back on and said I would have to speak with the rep on the phone with AFNI and hung up. After speaking with the rep from AFNI he informed me I had spoke with him first back in January of 2005 regarding this account. They say they sent me a letter about this account in November of 2007 and he proceeded to tell me to file a fraud claim through their site. Their site wanted me to put in my DL#, DOB and SS# and I refused and simply asked for verification not validation on the accounts in reference. After a lengthy conversation with the rep I mentioned their violation of the Fair Credit Agency Act in reporting this account to Equifax as an installment account and the fact that accounts, one first delinquent in March of 2007 and the other delinquent in September of 2007 were from different addresses! Now how can six months between two accounts not be considered fraud.

AFNI says to fill a complaint on their site, I did not. Two accounts within 6 months of each other going delinquent and they are from separate addresses and they can only send me a printed out draft of the bill from Verizon… The rep says call back in a week and both accounts would either be closed and removed from my report and authorized by their CEO or not.

I cross my fingers this account comes off all three of my credit reports. It’s another step forward in removing all collection accounts from me credit. Almost one solid year of me cleaning my credit to get into the 750 range! I’m at the mid 500 now and that’s with AFNI and one other collection account that’s only on Experian and a buddy adding me to a 12k line of credit with less than 2500 utilization; I should have a nice jump in points with these two accounts gone. Afni is showing as two separate accounts in collection. On Equifax it is showing as an installment account 120+ days late and the other two as a collection account.

Alot of my knowledge come from Creditboards.com
