Phase one is complete of my workstation! Today Comcast came out and split the cable from the wall in the room and ran it up and over the door(I will post pictures soon) so that I could have the Cable Modem upstairs with the wireless router.
Prior i had the Dell Poweredge Server(thanks Brian) downstairs hardwired into the wireless router and sharing the printer with my network. When i ran a speed test on that machine i was barley at 20000kbps hard wired and almost 9000kbps wireless(wireless router is b/g but laptop is b only). Plus my cordless phone for the Comcast Digital Voice was downstairs and hated having to go downstairs to put on and get off the charger! The same goes for the printer/scanner/copier...
Now not only is everything upstairs, handy but since he boosted the signal at the box i get 21600kbps on the hardwired items! Now versus wireless go plug into the router and have SPEED INTERNET on my Dell Inspiron 1150 Laptop!
Phase 2 involves a 24inch Dell Monitor mounted to the wall and an 8 Port KVM. Yes the Dell Poweredge Server and HP Compaq is a server!
